Tank's for the orks..... what a terrible pun!

More progress on the Hovertank & orks.

Look at these pictures, please, I beg you!

This is one side.

This is the other.

Not sure which angle this is?

Oooh! Let's boogy!

All I've done to the Hovertank so far is applied the base coat, copious amounts of an ink wash & drybrushed it. I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.

Next up is the ork horde, please look at them!

The Dave Andrews/Asslessman combo :)

Red era improvement.

The thieving bastard who stole a power fist.

Hat man, what a guy!

Cheesy grin while he shoots you in the face.

The rest of their brother's, eagerly awaiting my attention

So there you have it folks, more mini mayhem. I'm getting pretty bored with the tank to tell you the truth, but I'll battle on & finish it, coz I know/think it'll look great in the end.....it bloody well better!!!

I'm a little annoyed about the skin tone on the orks, I didn't stop to consider how I painted the last batch. I undecorated them white, whereas I undercoated these guys dark grey & drybrushed them white. They've turned out a little too green, a tad too glowing for my tastes. It might be ok once I've got all the other colours on? I want them to fit in with the original group I did a few months back that's all.

Ok, back to work.

Streeb Greebling chums.

  2. Hovertank looks great, I love seeing a plan come together. I think the ork flesh looks really good, even if a very slightly different hue. I hate it when I can't repeat a result when painting (for me this feels like everytime I pick up a brush). It is a bit difficult to tell due to the different lighting in your other batch of orks, but to bring the new lot more in line with them you could try a thin sepia glaze and another layer of mid-highlight. But the relationship colours have and the way their tone appears to change in the context of the other colours around them is a strange thing, perhaps because the green is the only colour you have on there it appears more saturated? Anyway, they look good, I suggest finishing them off and seeing how they look then.

    1. Yeah, it is hard to tell at this early stage, I'll reconsider my options once the rest of the painting is done.

The Hovertank is coming along, albeit in dribs & drabs. I'm doing bits of it while I'm trying to finish the orks.....just to break up the monotony of batch painting.

Thanks for the painting tips too, much appreciated :)

  3. All of this pleases me greatly. Giant hover tanks and orks, these are a few of my favourite things :D you must definitely finish that tank, the world needs more awesome sci-fi tanks with built-in blue-light discotheques.

    1. Thanks Crooksy,

I'm hoping that the next few stages of finishing it off won't take much longer. Like I said, I think it'll look good in the end, it's just a matter of motivation :)

Oh, and I've got another project on the go too, which doesn't help ;/

      Cheers.

  4. WOWOWOW

Hold on here, I think the rules of blogging strictly forbid to post so much awesomeness at once !

The hover is ridiculously too good even in its unfinished state, just can't wait to see it with all its details, markings and all... now I feel like spending days in toy shops to find some cool material...

The orks are just the cherry on the cake and the fect the skin hue is different is a good thing for me, it means it will give some variety to th earmy which is good (I think). Those conversions really work and my poor knowledge of the rnage would have led me to believe they're originals if I hadn't read your blog earlier.

You're on a good wave here, keep thing sthis way !

    1. I'm all about breaking boundaries here JB......kind of?

Oh, and I strongly urge you to stay away from those shops or your likely to end up with even more projects. I've got another one on the go at the same time as this Hovertank, thanks to that very predilection.

Regarding the orks, in the end, I'll probably be too lazy to stuff about trying to unify their paint schemes anyway :D I'll have to see how they "gel" with their buddies once their finished.

Thanks the positive feedback JB, (gives a thumbs up sign of gratitude).

      I've gotta get'em done before I come home don't I :)

If all goes well I should be able to finish off some mercs/pirate's too, fingers crossed.

I'll be pretty happy when I've got a sizable ork force painted up. The Hovertank will be a fun vehicle to have on the gaming table too.

      Cheers.

Hopefully it'll be even more so when it's completed. The orks will make a great addition to my RT gaming options too.
