Feast your eyes on some kitbashing porn,

Gettin ready for the family vacation....just have to install a few more weapon's & decorate the exterior in obscene graffiti and she'll be ready to roll. |
|
These engines took quite a while, I had to start all over, as I accidentally destroyed the first set after dropping it off the workbench. I'm much happier with how the second incarnation turned out, so perhaps it was meant to be? |
|
Installed a ladder made from copper wire, blue pipe from a coat hanger & the sideskirt from a Manga robot. Oh, and that gun is just sitting in there....not sure about the weapons yet. |
|
-"It's just a simple bullbar officer, to discourage the wandering cattle....honest!"
-"What, by slicing them in half at chest height?!!!" |
|
Similar to the other side, but I'm trying to make each side a little different. Sort of like it was hobbled together from whatever parts the owners could salvage. |
|
Couch up front -not yet glued in place- for some unfortunate soul to be strapped in, as a gruesome hood ornament. The yellow pencil sharpeners you can see behind the couch will become the control panel. |
|
The view from the drivers seat. |

I'm thinking about installing a couple of cheap LED's in the rear cargo area. I feel like I ought to, as I spent so much time detailing it! |
|
Now that's a fat arse! |
So, as it stands I've still got a shit load more stuff to do, it's coming together, but I somewhat underestimated the amount of time it would take. Oh well, the joys of stuffing around at my hobby desk :)
I've constructed enough of it that I can now envisage what the final model will look like.
Next up is more pipe work, weapon's, conning tower detail & LED installation. Enough to keep me busy for quite a few more week's I'd say.
Cheerio amigos :)
Ridiculously excellent ! Designing toys like a grown up ! That has got to be the best hovercraft I've seen in ages !
ReplyDeleteWonderful stuff really.I odn't know how you do but I'd be dying to prime and paint it at that stage !
Oh god, did you just say LED installation?
Thanks JB,
DeleteThat last joke went straight over my head, sorry, I'm a bit dim sometimes. Is there some other abbreviation to LED that I've missed? Oh, and if it's simply a phallic reference then that's fine by me :)
I'm not really sure what colour to hit this with when I'm done sticking bits on, black might look cool....it is THE bad arse colour after all.
Cheers.
No innuendo here ! I just meant to say that this was all already perfect before you mentionned adding LEDs, making it überperfect !
DeleteHoorah!!! I'm not that dim ;)
DeleteLooks really sweet, can't wait to see it all lit up!
ReplyDeleteCheers Peter,
DeleteThe lighting is partly for practical reasons too, so when you put minis in the back you can actually see them.
I feel a bit odd doing this lighting to tell you the truth.....like I'm turning into a model train guy? Their all keen on lighting everything up aren't they?
Bye bye
Hey Papafakis, I am myself something of an occasional model train guy. My father is much more serious about that, but the bug bites me from time to time. Don't have a working layout at present, but I do have a modest collection in a couple of scales. Nothing wrong with model train guys, I hope.
ReplyDeleteAnyway . . .
That is freaking gorgeous! I too would be dieing to paint it. Would've painted it long ago, most likely, and left it half as good as you have yourself. Wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing it done.
Thanks Composer,
DeleteNo, nothing wrong with train guys, just felt like I was changing camps :)
The perfectionist in me won't let me paint it until I'm satisfied that it can't be pimped anymore.
Cheers.
I am truly amazed! Can't believe what you are achieving out of the raw materials. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suber,
DeleteWish I could convince the wife that all that plastic stuff I save before it hits the bin is worthwhile. She just rolls her eyes & says "how much of that junk do you need?", to which I simply reply "just a little bit more dear".....all in a sarcastic tone ;)
Cheers.
HOLY SHIT! - I HAVE to see how this turns out! All the best for finishing this soon =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ace,
DeleteI've done a bit more to it this week....adding cables to the exterior & making the windscreen for the conning tower, but not enough for a post yet. Rest assured that it's nearing completion :)
Oh, and I wholeheartedly condone your flavoursome response to my project, Here Here!!!!
Nice Kit Bash!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing it finished...
Wow! Thanks David. That's high praise from a professional model builder.
DeleteThank you indeed :)
I've been finishing off some of the fiddly stuff, like the conning tower windscreen, so there not a whole lot of "visual progress" to be seen. Hopefully she'll be ready for paint in a couple of weeks.
Cheers.
