In your face Orctober!

I finished them, seriously! Here, take a look for yourself if you don't believe me:

Sixteen of the ugly buggers done.

Now, here's some gratuitous, individually posed shots for you to fawn over:

I think this guy was named "Hatman" when I originally posted him
up....all those many moons ago.

Here's two of the same mini, painted in a different colour scheme.

Yes, it does say "kik me" on his helmet.

I was trying for a Denim look for this guy, but I don't think I
managed to pull it off.
He still came out OK though I reckon.

Hence why there's three pics of him :)

Three more of the same guy, all sporting different model sunnies.

And they can tell the time too! Bravo gents.

Five of the same mini with varying body paint fetishes. There's a standard dude skulking in the background too.

Rusty and painted shoulder pads. I think the B&W striped one looks a little too much like a footy jumper :(

Smiling while he shoots you in the face. An Ork who enjoys
what he does for a living.

Comes equipped with arse armour.

I'm pretty chuffed with how this guys blade turned out.

Denim boots, for the discerning Ork mercenary

Only realised that this guy had a Bionic arm while I was painting him.

Now the group shot. Don't forget to shoot at the photographer boyz!!!

Thrugg with his crew of 40 Orks.

"Who's da boss? I is, datz who!!!"

So, that's that then. I have painted up all of my half done Space Orks for Orctober, before October ended! I've actually got three other Orks primed up and ready to go, but they were late comers to this party so they'll be saved up for another day.

Ok fellow leadheads, that's a nice short and sweet blog post from me.

See ya round :)

    1. Thanks Chico,

I cranked the "stunning" dial of the camera all the way up to 11 for this one.

      Glad you like like'em :)

  2. Frigging awesome Mec !
With that army you should be considered as winning every next orctober to come (and dreadcember too btw). I think th edenim fabric is cool, it looks like it's newish but it still looks like denim to me. Funily enough I did try to paint denim on my RT Space ork too, ther emust be something that says Levi's or Lee Cooper about them...
ANyway, bloody great output mate. Stand up applause.

    1. Thanks JB,

Does this mean I've got a free pass to next year's Orctober from this year's effort then? Coz I've only got three of'em left to paint anyway :D

About the Levi's, I think denim should look a little "greyer". Mine turned out a bit too much like a gym suit :( But seriously, I'm pretty happy with whatever the look he's got going on.

Oh, and you've got me all worried now. What's this thing called dreadcember? Whatever it is I hope it doesn't entail batch painting °~°

      Cheers bud.

  3. Denim is tricky to me. Part of it is the very strong texture of the fabric. It's not an obvious pattern, but it's obviously not a solid color. Makes it tricky. Some very strong drybrushing can help. Maybe. I've pulled it off to my own satisfaction once or twice and failed at least as often. But either way, your orks look splendid. Well done Mr. Papafakis.

    1. Yeah, l agree with your thoughts too. There ain't no tutorials on how to paint it either, so it just becomes a stab in the dark.

Thanks for the compliment on my finished crew too Composer.

      Cheers :)

  4. Nothing like that feeling when you see them all done!

Good shit dude and look, my fav got three photos! The denim looks good, I mean when I saw it that's what I thought it was!
Trying to make some surfaces look like they do in real life, on a 28mm mini can be challenging to say the least.

I love the rocky bases too =)
Now, a big battle report to show them all off would be perfect!

    1. His baggy Tracksuit turned out alright hey :)

The rocky bases are my own secret recipe, kinda...not really that secret. It's just two grades of concrete sand (stolen from my son's sand pit), a coat of wood varnish & then a drybrushing of Citadel Bleached Bone.

Battle report hey? Not a bad idea, but I've got to finish off some terrain piece's first & a couple of ruined buildings before I'll be ready for that.

      Cheers big ears :)

    1. Cheers Orcyboy :)

These guys are now my only completed, diverse force of RT dude's I own. All the other guys are either painted the same i.e. Space Marines or still languishing in a undercoat. And Orcs/Orks aren't even my favorite guys! :D

      Glad you liked them :)

    1. Thanks Galdarbjelke,

After suffering from their previous owners paintbrush abuse for many years I managed to bring them back to life :)

  7. Well done on getting them done! I too like the basing (bleached bone is a mutual friend). The mob look great, and very individual for monopole sculpts. I got my 18 infantry done btw ;P Maybe if I finish my ork hulk that can count to this rumoured 'dreadcember'..

Where can I see this infantry you speak of?

I may have to pester JB about this Dreadcember too, I'm a little concerned that there's another painting thingy happening again soon :)

      Cheers.

  9. Gee-whiz, that's a lot of orcs. Nice work, dude!

Do you have any green paint left?

    1. Yes, it is a lot isn't it?!! I'm glad I've run out of the little devils to tell you the truth :)

Green paint supply? Because I never painted Orcs/Orks much in the past I've still got loads of it.

Glad you like'm Pete. They'll be ready & waiting for our impeding battle in the future.

      Cheers :)

  10. A gorgeous bunch! I love the old pre-plastic arms range the best. I've got a big pile of these guys I need to get back to work on when my current fantasy project is finished. Fantastic job on 'Hatman!' He's one of my favorite minis from the range nd he looks great!

    1. Thanks Mr Mouse,

Yeah, I reckon their the best one's too. I'd like some of the Nobz from the range also, but I'll have to wait until my lead pile has diminished somewhat before I begin chasing them down.

I actually picked up most of these guys a few years ago from a games convention, very poorly painted. I gamed with them once (before I came to my senses), and then decided to bring them back to life with a decent paint job. Only took me a few years to get around to it though :)

      Cheers.

  11. A real amazing pack, the old orks have so much more character than the current models. You've painted them better than in the White Dwarfs. I look forward to seeing them in one of your reports.

    1. Yeah, they shit all over them don't they! The Red era saw them transformed into nothing more than a bunch of over caricatured Silver backed gorilla's :(

Regarding the painting level, wow! Thanks a lot, but I think there's a few things working for me in that department, namely "time". The GW team usually had a pretty tight deadline to get them ready for photography. Also, painting knowledge is far easier to source now on the internet. Back when i was a young'n it was nigh impossible (short of an arts degree) to learn about painting minis....just a few bits of information in magazines to go on. Oh, and I almost forgot, I'm bit older too, which usually helps :)

      Cheers Mr Bacon :)
